TORONTO, Sept. 5 /CNW/ - (TSX:MEW.UN): The trustees of Menu Foods Income Fund today announced with great sadness that Robert Bras, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Menu Foods business operated by the Fund, has died after a lengthy battle with cancer.

As disclosed in the Fund's initial public offering prospectus of May 10, 2002, Mr. Bras had been undergoing treatment for cancer for more than two and one-half years, and since Mr. Bras' treatments began, his executive responsibilities have been shared with and to a significant degree discharged by Menu Foods' senior management team.

The Fund also announced that Serge Darkazanli had been appointed Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Menu Foods business operated by the Fund, effective immediately.

The Class B units owned by Mr. Bras' estate and his family are subject to resale restrictions which do not expire until November, 2002.
